Over 1,200 pastors plan to defy California’s lockdown orders.
More than 1,200 pastors in California have signed a petition that says they will resume in-person services beginning on May 31, whether or not Gavin Newsom says it is OK. While this move would defy the state’s stay-at-home order, it would be in line with a DOJ warning to California that they must allow churches to reopen if they are allowing other parts of the economy to open as well.
The church leaders are obviously being very nice to the out of control tyrant Gruesome Newsom. If it was me the letter wouldn’t have been so forgiving of the Governor’s anti-church agenda.
Under California’s current plan to reopen, churches would only be allowed to reopen in Stage 3. After many other parts of the economy have reopened. Currently we are only in the early portion of Stage 2 to reopen. Gov. Gavin Newsom has been under growing pressure by the state’s most prominent religious leaders to reopen churches immediately.
Science alone is not the answer and I would be terrified to live in a world run purely by scientists and doctors. It would be a total nightmare. We can easily find a healthy balance between religion and science that is productive without being destructive.
It is precisely in crisis times like these that religion becomes one of the most important aspects of life and it guides us through. This is why religion exist, because there are major events in this universe that makes us humans feel small and we want to understand what role we have to play in all of this. Religion often gives us the answers we need and where science is plentiful in questions it is severely lacking in answers.
